Museum Field Trip...Yes, Even in grad school we take field trips :-)

Feeling Happy

I'm catching up on life from the past few weeks. My studio class took an impromptu field trip to the Jepson Center (after all, it was free week) in downtown Savannah at the end of April. This is my first trip to the Jep. Designed by world famous architect, Moshe Safdie, the element of natural lighting is amazing. It's my understanding that at the height of summer in Savannah the museum is unbearably hot inside due to the natural light filtering through the roof vents, but on the day I was there it was quite pleasant. It's sort of ironic...the museum building itself is a better and more interesting work of art than the pieces it houses.
