Want to know the best way to run students off and discourage them from working in their designated studio space? Simple, give them "the fishbowl." See the dark room with the windows on the second floor? Yeah, that's where my thesis class is supposed to be. We meet from 8-8:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's about as long as we can stand the room. It stinks like mold/mildew and sometimes sewage, the building's wireless service doesn't reach this room, the stools might as well be giant nails, and the "environmentally friendly" light sensors shut the lights off after ten minutes of inactivity and the only way to reactivate them is pass by the entry door (staying seated and waving your arms does not do the trick). So much for student centered education.
