My roommate has lost his ever loving mind. For his current studio class he proposed putting together a model, documenting the process, evaluating the satisfaction/enjoyment levels of the process, then making recommendations for a better method. It's a method of creative research where the process is scrutinized rather than the outcome. However, instead of selecting, let's say a Lego model, where the instructions are clear and the model could be made in a matter of hours, he went for the mother of all complexities: a 1/35 scale model of the largest gun ever made called The Dora. It's a professional level, museum quality monstrosity that will be close to 8' long when it's finished. Not exactly something that will sit on the coffee table as a conversation piece. The thing about this model is that it's constructed just as the German's put it together themselves. There are no pre-fab large parts that are already assembled. The average size of the individual parts is no larger than Lincoln's head on a penny. Seriously. He's super gluing each and every bit together piece by painstaking piece. It's a good thing that this is a non-working model because I think he'd turn the business end of the gun in the direction of the manufacturer and give them a 1/35 scale load of plastic ammo.
Little Germans not included.
