My family only has just one tradition associated with Christmas: Santa Claus must be hung in order for the holiday to be complete. The story of our Santa Claus goes back to when my grandpa was six years old. He negotiated a deal with one of his neighbors to trade one of his bunnies for this Santa Claus to give to his father (my great grandpa) for Christmas. Santa is almost 100 years old now and still lights up, but we try to conserve his light bulbs because they are no longer produced. There's something about having his soulful face watch over our home at Christmas that brings me peace. Maybe it's the kind act behind how he ended up in our family.
